What we had
The client asked to redesign the existing website of their AI service. They had detailed documentation of what they were aiming for, along with a comprehensive list of aesthetic characteristics (in short: smart, tech, playful, scientific), including a few references. They also insisted on using the characters (3D as the starting idea).
My goals were:

  • Suggest a few visual concepts (general vibe, style, character style, colors and layout).
  • Design a responsive layout for the landing page.
1st iteration
What I did:
3 tests, visually pretty close to each other, restricted by the initial references from the client.
What was the feedback:
  • Try to step out of the initial restriction and references.
  • Shift the mood from playful to more scientific and strict (but still playful).
2nd iteration
What I did:
Tried more different tests. Added subtle geometric elements and grids, drew isometric vector illustrations, and tested other art styles for the characters.
What was the feedback:
  • Positive, the client took the time before approving one of the tests. The development has been postponed until next year.
